Androgenetic Alopecia is widely known as pattern hair loss. It is a hereditary hair loss condition, which is the most common disease which affects both men and women. This condition is characterized by the slow change of terminal hairs into undetermined, and then into vellus hairs. The condition in men is called as male-pattern baldness and in females, it is called as female-pattern baldness. Pattern hair loss in men is caused due to diverse reasons such as enlargement of prostate cancer, coronary heart disease, diabetes, obesity, prostate cancer and high blood pressure whereas in women the causes are hormonal imbalance, irregular menstruation, hirsutism, acne, and weight gain.
This type of hair loss may begin at the early age of teenage and goes up to 50 years. The risk of this kind of hair loss elevates with the age and approx.. 50% of men are suffering from pattern hair loss whereas in women the pattern hair loss begins after menopause.
