Importance of Donor Area in Hair Transplant

If you are recommended a hair transplant, you are sure to determine how effective your hair operation is based on the feature of your scalp's transplant region or the outcome. However, if you are happy about the result but you may be certainly disappointed if the donor area is patchy. It is necessary to pay equal attention (and the hair transplant surgeon) to the donor area's appearance before and after surgery to the area being transplanted.

What is the region of a donor?

A graft is called the hair group in the donor region. Grease is a part of the body that contains adequate quantities of hair and hence serves as a donor area. Any graft is therefore removed from the region of the donor. These hair follicles are loosened with a micro-box and ready for transplantation. In major cases, the donor area is in the back of the head in the majority of instances. This is considered to be a thriving donor area as there is no simple hair in those areas.

Why is a Good Donor Area important?

The area of the donor decides whether the person is a suitable hair-transplant candidate. Androgens do not compromise hair development in androgenic alopecia. This form of the follicle is thus transplanted into the body with greater prosperity and opportunities to grow.

Only those with a better chance of survival after transplantation are picked when the follicles are chosen for transplantation. For long-lasting hair transplantation, this is an essential step. The person also needs enough follicular units to meet the balding scalp's requirements in the donor region.

Donor Area and Hair Transplant Relation:

  • Doctors prefer scalp hair in the occipital region and temporarily adjacent areas when selecting the donor site. Their hair grows permanently in these regions.
  • Beard, since the hair is naturally thick and resistant to DHT, is a preference donor site. Specialists for hair transplants frequently combine skin hair with bear hair, but the hair transplant arts dictate that a) insulation (b) on the hairline and (c) in the crown region because of their existence should not be used.
  • Chest hair and abdomen can be used as a hair donor. While small, they are broadly thick enough in some to look like skull hair. Chest hair is regularly used in the clinic Darling Buds to raise the amount of grease in heavily calf people. Chest hair should be tested, and often a hairline is softened.
  • The ultimate resort is hair from extremities (top and lower limbs), but in most people, it's so thin that they rarely turn up on the scalp when used. They are the least favored in body hair transplants, as their growth period is long and unpredictable.
  • Female hair transplants only use scalp hair grafts for apparent reasons.

What is the way the donor's hair is removed?

  • The hair is correctly extracted from the donor region, which is fully understood by the doctors. Thus, the surgical region of the donor is not harmed.
  • The surgeon uses a punch system that varies between 0.6 and 0.9 mm during the FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction). The system creates small entry points in the scalp for follicular units to be removed. The underlying tissue is minus trauma often removed, and findings are better achieved.
  • A strip of hair is removed from the donor region during the FUT (Follicular Device Transplantation). This approach is often called strip selection. Stitches are made in the donor region, and a linear cavity is left on the scalp.
